Congratulations to Masters swimmer Andy Cornish, who completed his English Channel solo on 4 July 2025 in a time of 14 hours 4 minutes.

The Channel is an epic challenge – even harder for Andy as he had to keep his fitness for another year as bad weather thwarted his hopes in 2024. But there’s more: over the winter he raised the bar further – deciding to treat his Channel swim merely as a warm up for an attempt to solo the length of Lake Geneva in September. 70km. Double the width of the English Channel. If he’s successful he’ll be the first person under 30, or and one of fewer than 20 people to manage the swim. Andy’s raising money for Merch Ships. We wish him luck!

Chapeau aussi to the ‘Saltwater Six’, a channel relay team from the club – ⁨Nicky Chapman, Rich Wadsworth⁩, Fabian Bull⁩, Jill Rocky, Jon Stubbs & Steve Roe. The team competed the distance in 12 hrs 54, and raised almost £6k for two local charities helping people affected by homelessness and domestic abuse.

Well done all!
