Brighton SC was playing exhibition matches in 1890 by the West Pier; its first women’s team competed in 1902. For many years Shiverers SC was the main water polo club in the area, and played in the National League – until polo moved back to BSC in the 1980s.
Over the years the club has produced many international players – and hosted many international teams. But our values are about inclusivity.
Today, our players range from age 6 through to 76: mini-polo, U12, U14, U18, ladies and seniors and masters teams competing and participating in the County, Regional and National Water polo programmes. We also have close links with the LGBTQ+ community through our collaborations with Out to Swim and London Orca, as well as players who have come to Brighton from all over the world. We train, we compete, and we have lots of fun along the way!
Throughout the year we enjoy participating in city and club events and social events, we host friendly matches and tournaments and occasionally tour internationally.
You don’t need any prior experience of water polo to join us – just confidence in the water. And a sense of humour helps!
