On 10 April 2024 the club AGM voted for one of the most significant changes in its history – Brighton SC became the City of Brighton and Hove SC.
The name change marks the culmination of 2 years of work to merge Hove-club Shiverers (one of the oldest clubs in the country in its own right) with Brighton. It also represents the evolution of our two local towns into a single city.
This isn’s a new idea – but its taken a long time to realise! It was first mooted around 50 years ago, but it fell by the wayside. Back on the 70s and 80s it was not uncommon for swimmers to be a member of both clubs, and occassionly the clubs fielded a joint team for competition. Over the last few years the
Joining forces provides some exciting opportunities for the future: a bigger swimming squad led by Head Coach Matt Naunton, a more extensive pool programme for the squads, and the opportunity for growth in polo, masters and synchro.
We’re excited!
We’re now working on new branding and kit… watch this space. And look out for the City of Brighton and Hove SC in a pool near you!
